Air III (Sleep Appliance)
The Bonded Palatal Expander (BRPE) uses acrylic bonded to the first and second bicuspids and the first molars for anchorage. A 12 millimeter screw is used for maximum expansion. The expansion screw is soldered to a wire framework which is bent around the lingual and buccal sides of the posterior teeth. To aid in the removal of the appliance, debonding loops and/or debonding screws may be added. The BRPE can also be constructed without the buccal support wires to aid in removal.
